AISAT INSTRUMENTS HISTORY

On the 20th October, 1974, Automotive Instrument Service opened it's doors for business. With many years of experience in the instrumentation game, Peter Rankin, Roy Knox, Colin Hardie and George Walker decided to go it alone and rented a corrugated iron shed at 128 Fransisco Street, Belmont. With a lot of hard work and long hours the four worked tirelessly on building up their business and developing a reputation for quality service with minimum delays.

As business expanded Automotive Instrument Service was appointed as a Distributor of VDO products and the sales demands saw them seeking larger premises down the road at 153 Fransisco Street, Belmont. The staff numbers increased and Don Walker joined the management team. A little while later, brother George decided to leave and pursue other goals and management was back again to four. Whilst staff numbers increased with more sales and service and more attantion being placed on commercial vehicles, again the premises could not adequately cater for the influx of work and vehicles and in 1986 there was yet another move to the premises at 84 Kurnall Road, Welshpool.

Recently we moved to more modern premises down the road to unit 4 1-9 Kurnall Road.

Everything was not always smooth sailing as was the case in 1989, the company sadly lost one of the originals when Colin Hardie, a solid contributor to the establishment and development of the company, contracted cancer and died.
In the early 90's there was a need to show the world that Automotive Instrument service not only dealt with the automotive industry but expanded its horizons to include marine, industrial, commercial, agricultural and many other fields. With advancing technology the name AISAT Instruments was introduced as a trading name and later became the company name.

Aisat has continued to expand and in April 2001 acquired the Instrument business of Tisco. The original owners of the company were all previous employees of Tisco prior to venturing out on their own and at this point they now own the business that gave them their employment and original training.

With the purchase of Tisco there was the immediate expansion of the product range including the Coating Inspection Instrumentation, Wind Instruments and a number of others.
The introduction of the Britax Automotive Electrical Lighting & Equipment, Cole Hersee Electrical Switches & Connectors, Tungstrum Globes and a range  of vehicle batteries plus the VDO Dayton Radios and other Instrumentation has expanded our product range even further.

In the years ahead we foresee further expansions of product and distributorships and look forward to supporting our current and future customer needs as efficient as possible.
